Explanation of The mission Part 1

UPWARD IN WORSHIP.  This involves creating environments within the church for every age group that lead people into passionate worship.  This includes hearing God’s Word (John 17:17); taking the next steps of commitment (Romans 12:1-2); singing (Ephesians 5:19); giving (I Corinthians 16:1-2); baptizing believers (Romans. 6:3-4); celebrating the Lord’s Supper (I Corinthians 11:23-26); praying (Psalm 95:6); attending [1]worship service (Hebrews 10:25).
This also includes giving people spiritual challenges, tools, resources, and encouragement beyond the Sunday services to live a life of worship 24/7/365.

[1]Our primary vehicle for driving worship is the Sunday services.

The mission of CrossPointe

UPWARD in Worship

INWARD in Growth

OUTWARD in Outreach

This mission serves as a litmus test to determine whether we are on mission or not.  It is our plumb line against which we align our program, personnel, and property decisions.  The mission is taken directly from Scripture.

WORSHIP:  Jesus replied, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  Matthew 22:37 (NIV)

GROWTH:  And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.  Colossians 1:10 (NIV)

OUTREACH:  31 Jesus answered them, It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Luke 5:31-32 (NIV)

VISION: God’s Vision for CrossPointe Church

God’s vision for CrossPointe is taken directly from Scripture:

To Lead People to Find and Follow Jesus
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.  Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)
Explanation of our vision statement:
The vision statement falls into three categories:
1.            To Lead People.  This involves our partnership with God.  Jesus came to earth to reveal God to us, to be God with skin on.  We then partner with God to be Jesus with skin on to others. Throughout history, God has chosen to work through His people. It is a joint venture where we follow God and work with God to help people experience Jesus’ grace, love, forgiveness, and freedom.
2.            To Find Jesus.  Some who come to our church do not know Jesus.  Nearly everyone in our church knows someone who is far away from God.  We have an obligation to help the lost to be found.
3.            To Follow Jesus.  No matter where people are in their walk with God, there is always room to grow. It is an ongoing, growing process toward becoming a fully devoted disciple.  What is a fully devoted disciple?  A fully devoted disciple is a person who takes up his/her cross and follows Jesus.  Every part of their life is fully devoted to following Jesus.

Our focus is transforming lives. We partner with God to take people from where they are to who God created them to be. Taking broken lives and transforming them into a new creation growing toward healing and wholeness.  Even though we participate in God’s work, He is the one who ultimately changes lives.  He deserves the credit.
