One of my joys in life is to add value to those in church leadership. This blog will be used for leadership, strategy, tips and training.
One of my favorite verses is found in Psalm 78:72, "And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them."
I believe scripture speaks to 2 foundational principles of church leadership.
1. Character - "integrity of heart"
2. Competency - "skillful hands"
What does character mean to you? Why is it so important?
Why is competency valued so highly?
Would love to hear your thoughts.
Character is who you are when no one is watching.
ReplyDeleteCompetency is being reliable, responsible and teachable. It's doing your best but knowing you can't do it alone. It's acknowledging whatever you can do is by the grace of God, and that your skills and talents are gifts that you steward, responsibly. But they are the Lord's (how will you answer when he asks what you've done with them when he returns? That's character too.) Always be teachable and correctable and coachable. Always be willing to learn, wanting to learn, grow and improve.
